Small Pipes (Bellows) Competition Sunday 13th June 2010
Rules updated 1st March 2010
As far as we are aware a Small Pipes competition has not been held at a Highland Games in Scotland before.
A games field can be very noisy with Highland Pipers, Pipe Bands and crowds of people. Our plan is to use a marquee on the 'quieter' side of the games arena. We will provide a small PA system, not for use by competitors, but to ensure that the audience can enjoy the music without being distracted by the general games noise.
For this first year we will have two competitions. The first will be a solo small pipes (bellows only) competition. The second will be a group competition for at least one small pipes player accompanied by up to 4 other musicians. All instruments, including vocals, must be acoustic.
We would like to encourage all small pipes players to consider entering this competition. Each performance will be judged on the 'entertainment' value as much as technical ability.
Three judges from a variety of disciplines will decide on the winning performances. There will be three prizes for each competition (solo and group). Cash Prizes and trophies. Details on the prizes will be available soon from this web site.
